“Live for what you create and die protecting it.”

The goal of my work is to bring awareness to the past and present of the LGBTQIA+ Community. As a queer person I find it incredibly important to know my community's history and how the dominos fell that resulted in where we are today. I use queer symbols and imagery from history and put a modern, celebratory twist on it with pop culture imagery. The concept of identity through expression appears in my pieces as well. My work is an intersection of the queer community’s past and the present; where we have come from and what we’ve gone through in order to be where we are today and what we can be in the present.
I want to showcase people like me in the pieces that I make; that have similar stories and experiences to share. Accurate representation of the queer community is extremely important to me as I believe representation is key to a more accepting world and society. I grew up without much queer representation and I want to contribute to this movement of more diverse representation. I celebrate queer people in pop culture and media, as well as all the nuances of my community’s expression through clothing, appearance, careers, etc. These forms of expression are important among the queer community and it’s something important to honor and depict in my work.
